Spring Beret Finished!

Hello my dears! I finally have for you finished photos of the hat, I still wish it was larger, and am going to remake this larger and slouchier. You knit, and learn right? I'll be short and sweet and show you the photos!

I really like the color of it, I have enough left to make a larger one so I'm excited for that. I've got to get the rest of my yarn out of storage and then I'll be knitting my littlest a blanket. He loves blankets and I'de love to make him a nice comfy one.

Until Next Time!

Spring Beret Continued...

Well today is the day I finished the beret. It wasn't as slouchy as I had wanted, I know now for next time I will use a size 9 (I used a size 7 to get the right gauge swatch) and I will add an extra lace pattern, doing five instead of four. I think this will make it "slouchy" as opposed to "fitted"

Right now I have progress photos, Tomorrow I will get the finished product when my camera battery charges up.

The photo above is definitely more color accurate then the next one, my lights weren't agreeing with me. I love this pattern though, it's simple yet chic, and easy to work up. If I hadn't been chasing kids around I probably could have got this done in the time of a few episodes of breaking bad.

Again, I love this. The color is perfect for the spring and summer, and light enough to wear through the season. Tomorrow I'll have photos of myself wearing it so you can see how "fitted" it came out. I still love it and will be doing this again.

Until Next Time!

Starting my Spring Beret

Good Morning and Happy Saturday Friends! Today I officially started my Spring Beret, This is a pattern that I found on Ravelry and I have made this once before, about 5 years ago. You can see a photo of the finished pattern here by natlars.

I remember loving this hat, and come spring time it will be perfect. I'm using an old yarn that I have, again from about 5 years ago, Cascade 220, in a berry pink color. I've gotten the band and started the increase for the "slouch" part. I will be photographing later today what I have but I must say, I'm so proud to be knitting again. Stress has gone down, and it gives me something to do, and knitting makes perfect gifts for the ones we love because it comes from the heart.

I can't wait to show you all the progress, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. If you haven't joined Ravelry you must! There are many great patterns, forums, and groups to join.

Until Next Time!

Welcome to my World of Knitting and Crocheting!

Hello my lovelies! I wanted to start this blog to create a place where I can show off my knitting and crocheting. I've been knitting since I was 12 years old as a way to keep my anxiety at bay. My anxiety started when I was 8 and I never had an outlet to help keep me calm. My sister started knitting and I wanted to do it too, she was left handed so she couldn't teach me. She bought me the Stitch N' Bitch book and off I went, a self taught 12 year old knitter and it never stopped. Over the last few years I've been knitting on and off but decided to start up regularly again because I've missed the art of it. I started crocheting when I was pregnant with my first son at 18 when my mom taught me. I wanted so badly to make a crochet ripple afghan for him and then the madness started and here I am today. It's taking me a bit of time to get back into crochet since my main love is knitting, but I'm going to get there. I hope that you take this journey with me, and please share any tips or tricks or even what projects your working on! I'm on Ravelry and my name is SammiRexKnits if you'de like to follow my progress there as well! Do you knit or crochet? When did you start? I'de love to hear all about it!

Until Next Time!
